Whale Wars: Battle for the deep is the first of a trilogy with three spinoffs. As we all know the Orca whale is an apex predator, but in the ocean the colossal squid king is making his move to free a Lovecraftian horror that has been sealed for ages. The Orcas and the Blue Whales must come together and join forces to defend the world.

  1. Though centrally composed, your poster still retains a dynamic feeling thanks to the expressive and active splashes of water and sky. This combination helps to diffuse the horizon—a nice way to keep things actively flowing throughout the image. In this way, the very prominent horizon line at the left of the composition seems too harsh, and out of place with the feeling (consider landscape paintings of the sea by the American 19th century painter, William Turner). By the same token, the graphic at the center of the image is a bit distracting because it is so different (such a different management of pixel color and density) and takes away from the detailed subtlety of what looks like liquify or smudge effects in Photoshop. Such distortions are not easy to wield believably, but I think they are pretty eye-catching. Lastly, the text could use a bit more integration into the visual elements of the design. Consider stretching, skewing, or otherwise layering the text into the intensity of the image so that it's not just sitting on top, thereby flattening. This kind of sensitivity to layer positions would help you to differentiate the spacing between the animals also, to shake them up out of the middle of the composition. Nice experiments here overall.
